Donegal Dragons paddle to raise Breast Cancer awareness and to demonstrate that women and men living with cancer can lead full and active lives. Through the strenuous demands of Dragon Boat paddling we have learned that we can push the limits of our physical endurance and have fun doing it. We have grown strong as individuals and as a group.
My name is Deborah Bonner and I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2010 after I celebrated my 40th birthday. Since then I’ve had surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, herceptin and still on Tamoxifen. I became passionate about dragon boats after attending the Relay for Life conference and hearing Jim McGuiness give an inspirational talk about fitness, breast cancer and dragon boats.
Long story short I now eat and sleep dragon boating. It has changed my life for the better and now I want to share this with Donegal and it’s breast cancer survivors, families and friends.
